Just testing GRAV I’ve installed the random-plugin (at least I think so). Pointing my browser to ‘localhost/grav/random’ leads to the error shown in the image. Any ideas where I’m missing it?

Did you install Grav from the download link or from GitHub? Do you have multiple pages? If so do you have taxonomy set on them? There is a little setup that is required for random plugin by default:
It works out-of-the-box with the blog skeleton package that already has articles and a blog taxonomy defined in site.yaml.
I think i replicated your issue. I have a fix in the latest development version that should get a release tomorrow.
Fixed in Random v1.1.1. Now available.
